Named after the nearby Cairnbulg Castle which was resident to Lord Saltoun who gifted the land on which the course resides back in 1891 when it relocated from its original location on the Fraserburgh Links. The tee shot at 12 does not look the most inviting as it may seem you are trying to find an impossible narrow fairway. A strong drive is required to clear the neck of the narrow fairway where it then opens to a more generous space. Many a drive will be caught by the hill on the right but don’t go too far right or the 3 minutes will disappear quite fast in there. The green is guarded by bunkers on both sides and slopes slightly away from you but again don’t go long!
